Why Do We Show These Disgusting Pictures?

BECAUSE ABORTION KILLS A BABY. Many people don't actually know this. Most pro-abortion folks deny it. Pictures offer the visual evidence of how violent it is. These babies are unique, identifiable human beings. They were little people with arms and legs, hearts and brains. They were made in the image of God, and are precious to Him.

BECAUSE ABORTION IS SANITIZED by the media. The fact that abortion kills a defenseless human being is virtually hidden by the major news and media sources. People should be warned of the gruesome reality of what is happening inside these "clinics". Women have a right to know before their choice is made. The truth needs to be told. So we use the Public Square--the streets--as our medium to reach people.

BECAUSE ABORTION IS DISGUISED with slick slogans and fancy rhetoric. Euphemisms like "choice" and "rights" and "termination of pregnancy" and "product of conception (POC)" are used to mask the violence of abortion. People are persuaded to believe that abortion is acceptable. These pictures cut through the rhetoric. The "choice" they speak of is not the ability to determine one's own life, but permission to take someone else's life. A "woman's right" means the insistence to exterminate another person's most basic right: the Right to Live.

BECAUSE ABORTION CHEAPENS ALL HUMAN LIFE. It strikes at the very heart of our society: the belief that every human being has value, dignity and worth. We are all equal in the sight of our Creator, who endowed us with the right to life. Abortion judges one group of people to be "less than human" because someone considers them "unwanted" or a "burden". For a pre-born child this is a death sentence. It is a small step to do the same to the handicapped, elderly or mentally ill. Everyone's right to life is less secure when abortion is accepted.

To be "pro-choice" is to say that a person's worth is determined by whether or not they are wanted. Have you ever heard of women throwing a "fetus shower"? Of course not. When a baby is wanted, it is NEVER called a fetus. That term is used to dehumanize the baby so that his death is less objectionable.

ABORTION IS HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF. William Wilberforce was stymied in his lifelong campaign to outlaw slavery in the British Empire over 200 years ago. So he took his aristocratic friends to the actually SEE slave ships, and see how slaves were treated. Only after the influential people of his day saw the true horror of slavery were they motivated to actually DO anything to eliminate slavery.

But Children Are Seeing These Pictures!

We have families. We understand the concern about children seeing these pictures. But our extensive experience has shown that children are not harmed by them. Kids identify with these babies. That's only a problem for parents who can't tell them what the pictures are, because they are in favor of abortion! A parent's view on abortion is a reflection to a child of how much they are valued. They realize that if their parents think that it is acceptable, then that could happen to them, or their siblings.
Parents who try to stop abortion are directly proving to their children how valuable they are to their parents.

Our experience is that people who get visibly upset, even violent over these pictures (screaming at us or tearing up the pictures) usually were involved in abortion. Either they aborted their own child, or encouraged someone else to. That reality can be overwhelming. Instead of dealing with it, they lash out in anger. That is why we offer the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these people who can no longer deny the emotional damage resulting from involvement in abortion.
Seeing these images can be the first step in realizing their need for repentance and forgiveness.

When we are silent about the violence of abortion more babies die, more women are hurt and all life is cheapened. In the long run, showing these pictures is one of the kindest things we could do. Slogans and euphemisms obscure reality.
Only the truth will set people free.
